I, Me, Myself

I have been tagged by Priyamvada on a most difficult topic - about myself! Had a tough time but I managed to pass it off :)
I'm thinking about:
The killings that take place everyday. Don’t we have enough life damage through natural calamities? These unhappy happenings make me sick.
I said: ( I say:)
Contentment gives peace.
I want to:
1.Learn a lot. But due to circumstances I am forced to draw a line on what I am most eager to learn.
2.Eager to keep up pace with other blogs and read blogs and comment.
Again, constraints.
I wish:
We remain immortal.
I hear:
Instrumental music – light and classical. Depending on mood, peppy songs when happy and slow and melodious tunes when off mood. Saxaphone and Mandolin , and of late, Keyboard.
I wonder:
Why success and difference in status changes people’s attitude.
I regret:
No regrets.. I have had a taste of everything in my life and I take them all as experience which has moulded me into what I am.
I am:
A typical cancerian.
I dance(d):
When I was in school out of compulsion because I was supposed to pass the “dance exam”
I sing:
When nobody is around, even though I have a fair knowledge of music.
I cry:
Whenever situations arise! It might be even when I watch a sob-sob movie.
I'm not always:
Serious.
I make with my hands:
What else can it be but something to eat everyday?
I write:
I have stopped writing. I type.
I confuse:
Birthdays and forget to wish friends.
I need:
Food at the right time. I cant tolerate hunger.
Friends and relatives. They are important to me.
Light. I hate darkness.
And finally:
I wish to tag these people because they have a unique style and it would be interesting to make them tell about themselves :) , though not sure if they will respond :)

Infatuation - the mystic beast.

“It was all YOUR fault!” Raghu shouted at Nithya.
“Now what do I do?” He asked in a desperate tone. How was he to meet this uncomfortable situation? He felt as if his mind was bursting out of tension and grief.
Nithya stood near the window, watching the buzzing activities outside.
“It wasn’t mine. Don’t blame me alone!” She squealed back in frustration.
The argument finally ended up in an exasperated note.
“Ok, Ok, lets not blame each other and waste time. Lets try to think of what we should do next!” Nithya said. They decided to let things as it be for a while.
Was it really her fault? Nithya thought. Was she wrong in telling her daughter Latha about her past, about how she loved Raghu and married him? Has this influenced Latha to make this decision? Nithya fell in love with Raghu when she was a teenager and got married as soon as she finished her graduation. She had been going out with him on those days.
Now Nithya’s thoughts raced back to about one month before when her helper was discussing her family matters with her.
Her maid said one day,“Amma, my son lost his job. You know how difficult it is for me to make ends meet.” She was almost crying.
Nithya felt sorry for her.
“Raghu, we need a driver for our car. Why can’t we assign this job to her son Mani?” She asked.
Raghu did not mind fixing him up as his driver. He needed one badly.
Mani joined duty the next day and was waiting outside near the car. Mani seemed to be a quiet person. He looked nice in his casual dress and he had a charming face, which made one notice him a second time.
“Shall I get dropped to school today?” His daughter Latha asked.
She was having her exams and was eager to be on time to school. She already felt tense and was not in a mood to go by bike to school. What she wants, she gets. That was her attitude as a teenager.
“You can get dropped everyday!” Her father said. Latha felt happy.
Mani picked her up from school as well and it became a daily routine. Mani was to drop and pick her up from school, then take her to her special classes and be back.
One fine day, it was raining heavily and there was no sign of Latha.
Nithya was getting worried about Latha because it was an age of curiosity and confusion. She called up Latha’s friends only to learn that Latha has not attended the special class that day. Then where could she have gone? Mani did not turn up that day and Latha had taken her bike to go and attend the classes.
It was becoming dark and almost dinnertime. Nithya became desperate and could not control her tears when she saw Raghu coming in. She broke down as soon as she saw Raghu .“Latha has not come yet!” She had already called him and told him over phone so many times.
It was a sleepless night and finally there was a call from Latha..Latha had shocking news for them both.
“Ma, I am with Mani now. I have married him..”
“What???” Nithya almost fainted with shock while Raghu remained calm, composed, as he heard the news and he talked to Latha. He knew that he had no control over the situation now. He had set a high standard for himself and now it was all in shatters.
That was the end of it, he felt. He was angry and felt that he should not have trusted Latha too much. But what was the use? It was late now.
Latha wasn’t their daughter anymore.” I am disowning her!” He said. That is how she had made them feel. But he did not realize that this is easier said than done. She has spoilt his reputation, he felt. But with this present scenario, when she has decided to live her own life, he decided to leave her in her own way. But he made it clear to her that she can’t expect anything from him in future. He also told her that they can never have a happy relationship with her and told her to be on her own and not to contact them anymore.
All Nithya could do was cry her heart out for her young and immature daughter who has taken a wrong decision which would mar her life forever.
All Raghu could do was to shout at Nithya. ”It’s your entire fault! You did not take care of her properly! If you had paid attention to her needs and cared more about her, she wouldn’t have left us!”
Nithya could not accept what he said. How can he say that she alone was at fault? It was he who asked the driver to drop Latha.
Raghu , in turn, asked how would anyone know that a driver would behave in this irrational manner?
They were blaming each other and at the same time upset that their daughter had left them for good with a total stranger.
A few weeks passed, and there was a knock at the door.
Nithya opened the door. It was Latha standing outside, eagerly looking at her mother’s face to know if she would accept her and call her inside.
“Who asked you to come?” Nithya asked in a low and husky voice as Latha entered inside.
Latha hugged her mother and sobbed and then with a distinct catch in her breath she said, “He left me in the lurch…I didn’t know he was already married…” Nithya did not reply.
As a mother, she accepted her back. She knows that it may be a wound now but this shall pass and Latha will be left with the scar to remind her of this infatuation.
It was for Nithya and Raghu to get her back to the right track…

A bolly-kollywoodish story!

‘I want to meet you”. These words were not unexpected from her online friend Rajdeep whom Suguna has been interacting with, for quite sometime/
Rajdeep and Suguna were Software Engineers who had been chatting in Yahoo Messenger. Now they were in love with each other.
Rajdeep never expected Suguna to agree so soon to meet him. He was feeling happy.
It was a cool Sunday Morning when he got down from the train in Chennai. It was a combination of tiredness and excitement. He was tired because he never slept during the journey and full of excitement because he was going to see someone very special in his life. It was going to be a reality of all his dreams.
He took an auto to go to his uncle’s house. He was to meet Suguna for lunch.
While the vehicle sped to his uncle’s house, he was having a quick recap of what happened between the two of them in recent times.
“Why did you choose this unique id?” Rajdeep sent a message to her in her private window. That was the start of the first conversation with Suguna.
This was a simple question, which made her answer him. She replied.
Actually Suguna was in the chat room as Rajdeep signed in.
Rajdeep had not worried about the gender while sending messages. Therefore, he messaged her immediately as soon as he signed in. All he wanted was friends and interaction. On her part, Suguna felt special, from the moment he started chatting with her. It was a strange feeling which dominated her. Best of all, she felt that he was the right person for her. He would be her strength in life, she thought.
In course of time, they became close friends and not a day passed without them chatting in Messenger.
She felt something different in him and was comfortable chatting with him while he was happy that they had many things in common. In fact, he felt scary because his feelings towards her were going out of control.
It was amazing that these two people of different culture and in different places had to fall in love with each other.
Suguna and Rajdeep decided to live on their own description of themselves and not to exchange photographs. They wanted the excitement to linger when they meet. They has agreed to only be online friends till such time they become desperate to meet each other.
She said she is tall, fair and beautiful and he described himself as a tall and handsome man.
Suguna felt that that he was the right person for her right from the start, while Rajdeep , who wanted friendship, gradually felt that his friendship turned into love as they developed an understanding for each other.
As they became closer, there came a time when they realized that they cannot stay without each other..
Suguna felt that it was only fair on her part to allow him to meet her.
As the auto reached Rajdeep’s uncle’s house, Rajdeep jerked back to the present when the auto came to a halt.
“Now, how are we going to identify each other/” Rajdeep had asked her.
“I will wear a yellow saree and have jasmines on my head.” Suguna loved jasmines.
Rajdeep decided to wear his blue jeans and his blood red T-shirt so that she can easily spot him among the crowd.
Suguna could hardly wait to meet Rajdeep for lunch.
Rajdeep got ready to go and meet Suguna.
“What would she look like? Would she be really beautiful, like how she described herself?” He was very curious.
He had planned to talk a lot to her but was wondering if he would be at a loss for words as they stood face to face. He rehearsed as to what he should ask her and how he should develop a conversation with her and put her at ease.
Suguna, on the other hand, was so nervous and was praying that she should at least manage a soft “hello” at least like a mouse squeaking because she knew that her voice would sink as soon as she saw him.
Rajdeep arrived at the restaurant, which Suguna has suggested. He glanced around to see if he could spot a yellow sari around.
There was a girl at a distance, whom he noticed, wore a yellow sari.
“Ah, there she is!” Rajdeep saw the girl of Suguna’s age sitting and watching around. It looked as if she was expecting someone. He was not happy about his instinct because as he went near, it was more of shock than a sweet surprise. She wasn’t as beautiful as she had described.
He immediately retreated back to where he was standing before.
“Could it be Suguna? Has she cheated me saying that she looked beautiful? Is she trying to test my love? “ His mind was full of doubts and questions. “Why should she say that she looks beautiful when she is not so?”
He was not keen on her looks because he knew she had a wonderful heart but he felt that honesty is one of the requirements for a successful marriage.
“My God, she sounded so genuine! “ He hated himself for trusting her so much.
He decided to go back without saying a “hi” to Suguna.
It was the lowest feeling in the world when one knows that his or her lover is a cheat and not to be trusted. His world came down on him. All the while he had been thinking that his life has had a turn around and he was in for a disappointment and now he cursed himself for coming all the way to meet her. Why was he tempted so much? He felt ashamed. But his confused thoughts were getting cleared as he treaded along towards the doorway.
As he walked without even turning back to look at her, he started wondering.
“Is beauty so important? What if she possessed a inner beauty? Perhaps she thought herself to be beautiful – a positive feeling which every woman would have. Why not go and meet her and have a talk with her?” He had second thoughts and was tempted to confirm if she was Suguna after all. He turned back, finally deciding to meet and talk to her, come what may.
As he walked towards her, he saw the yellow-sari girl get up and walk away. As he was about to raise his voice and call “Suguna..”, it suddenly struck him, “Oh yes! Jasmines. She doesn’t have jasmines on her head!” By that time, another girl turned up and occupied the seat. She was wearing a yellow sari and she had jasmines on her head.
She looked stunningly beautiful.
“Rajdeep!” She didn’t hesitate to call him…he rushed towards her. He knew it was Suguna!

Unwanted space...

“I need space!”

It was a cold morning and Shyam was not in a mood for argument. Actually Shyam did not expect Sharanya to utter these words.

Shyam knew that Sharanya wouldn’t even budge out of the sofa once she has decided to argue with him.

He got up, made two cups of coffee, and brought a cup to her.

She willingly took it from him.

“What is wrong with her?” He thought.

Space…does she think she only needed it? He needed his space too. Wasn’t he a human too?

He dressed up to go to office.

“So you don’t have anything to say?”

“Come on, I heard you. I already have enough problems on my head. Do what you want!” He was dejected. He has heard this talk about ‘space” many times. He took the car keys and walked towards the car.

Sharanya became more furious. She felt that he was being indifferent. It was time she had an open talk with him, she felt.

As he drove the car, Shyam started thinking. His plans for the day, his thoughts, dreams and resolutions and whatever – they were decided and confirmed while he drove the car. He loved driving the car so much and at the same time, loved to stray around with his thoughts in all directions.

‘Space, huh?” Now he started hovering around his past, when he was in school.

“Why didn’t you bring your report card? Show your hand?” The ruler hit him hard and left a red mark on his hand. The teacher never understood his predicament. He was scared of his dad!

The problem he had with his parents was not that they would beat him or be harsh to him. They would just brush it off saying, “Do well next time”. He felt he was being ignored. What is the point in showing the report card to them? He hated the space they had given him.

He took a pen, signed his dad’s name on it and handed it over to the teacher.

Shyam got back to his senses when he was forced to stop his car with a jolt when a guy tried to cross the road expecting that he would slow down the car.

As he started driving again, he could not hold back his thoughts about the past.

Was he given too much space? He didn’t need it but the space was forced on him. He wanted his parents to ask him how, when, what happened, where. He longed to be in their care. But they gave him more freedom than he wanted.

When in college, he got enough pocket money from his parents to attract a lot of friends towards him. Adolescence is an age where parents need to give space to their children Teenage is the time when they need space. They would want to flap their wings, go about, make friends and get into the social networking. However, some parents don’t realize the dangers lurking behind it. Shyam’s parents were of that type. Shyam was drawn into it and he took to booze and drugs. It was sheer luck that he met Sharanya.
He gave up all that he desired, and married Sharanya. It was a turning point in his life. He owed her.

Shyam reached his office by now and got down from the car.

There was a missed call in his mobile. He was so engrossed in his thoughts that he had not answered the call. It was Sharanya.

He could not resist calling her back.

Even now he could tell her..”Take all the space you want.”

But what would happen to him?

Two years back, she needed space, she said. She wanted to get away from him, from her child, and wanted to study further. He felt that he should not stop her from doing what she wanted. He took care of the child. But how did she use her space? She fell in love with her classmate and was having a clandestine affair with him.

Now she wanted to divorce Shyam and marry him. Shyam trusted her but…what was it that she wanted? She wanted to ditch him!

“I need space.” - Sharanya. “I don’t need space” - Shyam

Shyam is in office now. He now wants to know what is “space”. Can someone help him?
